The City of Kress Volunteer Fire Department have bravely responded to emergencies in our community since 1955. Our Volunteer Firefighters are trained and dedicated to assisting our city when we are in need. We thank them all for their bravery.

What do the different city sirens signals mean?

Kress sirens are operated by the Fire Department or City Office of the Mayor. They have three (3) different signals you should know and be aware of:

  • Tornado/Storm Warning: 
    • Long Steady siren in one tone for three (3) minutes.
  • Fire:
    • Alternation high/low tone(s) for approximately three (3) minutes.
  • Attack/Defense Alert:
    • Waving tone of short blast for three (3) minutes.
